2ND ANNUAL NATIONAL NIGHT OUT - AUGUST 7, 2007

Thank you to everyone who helped to support the Burbank area's 2nd Annual Outdoor Movie night at Luther Burbank School.

Everyone gathering round the bbq area. Thank you to Shasta Hanchett Park Neighbrhood Association who coordinated our outdoor eats.

The children got to enjoy, and learn about, the Sheriff's K-9 unit.

The Sheriff's Department spent time chatting with the attendees about all the different services they provide including SWAT and Bomb Squad.

The free bbq was a huge hit! This year we served approximately 400 dinners and could have served more. Next year we will definitely do a bit more shopping so we can plan for 500+ dinners.

Over 400 attended the event and enjoyed presentations by the Y, San Jose Park and Rec, and Western Career College.

Hope to see you all next year!

JAMBOREE 2007

The Burbank Community Association again helped with this long running event.

The event provided fun for the whole family - a rock climbing wall, bounce house, music and food.

The children, and their families, had lots of fun with the watermelon eating contest.

The bed races gave spectators an exciting event to watch. The race went from the shopping center, down Shasta to Dana and back.

Thank you to Councilmember Oliverio who helped waved the official flag for the start of the race.

YOUR DONATIONS CAN HELP!
The BCA is asking for your help in collecting gently used magazines and prescription eye glasses. The magazines will be donated to a local hospital. These magazines will be distributed in the waiting rooms and other areas of the hospital to help those pass the time as they wait. There is no need to remove your personal address information. The BCA will be sure a sticker is placed over this information to protect your privacy.

Also, we are collecting eye glasses for the Lion's Club. If you have an old pair of prescription glasses that you do not use anymore, please donate them to this worth cause. The Lion's Club uses these glasses to provide sight to those who do not have the means to purchase glasses (or eye exams) on their own.

We will be collecting these items at our monthly meeting (3rd Monday each month). If you are unable to drop them off at the meeting, please give us a call at 408-904-7496 or email at conact@burbankcommunityassn.com. We will be glad to make arrangements to pick them up.

Thank you
