Free Trees — New Program For Burbank Residents

Program announced at BCA Meeting – October 17, 2011

Our City Forest representatives attended the last BCA meeting on October 17, 2011, and announced that a free street tree will be available to Burbank residents. The County of Santa Clara has provided funds for 500 trees in a program that will last for up to two years for county pocket residents of Burbank and Alum Rock.

Our City Forest hopes to kick off their Tree Planting program in March. There's still time to make an application and select your tree(s).

A street tree (one planted within ten feet of the curb) will be provided at no cost. A larger tree (15 gallon) may be ordered for a mere $15 additional charge. Also, you may request a second tree for your front yard at the same cost. Our City Forest volunteers will plant the tree for seniors and the disabled. Others are requested to participate in the planting.

Different tree planting options include drought-tolerant trees and California natives. All applicants will receive a free planting consultation to determine eligible planting locations and recommended species. Download an application or call (408) 998-7337 x124 for an application or for more information. Please mention that you live in the county pocket of Burbank.

Our City Forest urges Burbank residents to plan a coordinated planting for their street. This will ensure a coordinated look to the street and maximize the volunteers' time.

For more information, go to the website for Our City Forest or call them at (408) 99-TREES. Let's make Burbank a beautiful urban forest!
