Located at 1000 S Bascom Avenue, this facility will be a 40,000 SF, 2-story building that is being designed as a LEED Silver Certified green building. Included will be a library, gym, classrooms, community room, kitchen, fitness center and game room. Scheduled to open on August 6, 2010.
At the March 11, 2010 meeting of the Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Association, Jane Light, Director of the San Jose Library, and San Jose 6th District Councilman Pierluigi Oliverio confirmed that the Bascom Library and Community Center is unlikely to open on schedule. Furthermore, all San Jose City Libraries may cut service to 3 days per week due to budget constraints.
