Political Boundaries

The Burbank Community is an unincorporated area in Santa Clara County, surrounded mostly by the City of San Jose. Some neighborhoods in the adjacent Buena Vista neighborhood have been incorporated into the City. The County favors the annexation of County pockets because it is not structured to provide city services. Over the years there has been discussion of annexing the Burbank Community by the City. According to State law, a city may annex an area less than 150 acres without a vote or approval of the affected area. Burbank, at over 400 acres, is not eligible under State law for this type of annexation. Still, annexation seems to be a topic of concern for Burbank residents.
